We’re right at the end of Book 2 of Curse of the Crimson Throne, wherein a mysterious plague has ravaged the city and the PCs are trying to figure out where it came from and how to cure it. This has led them to a hidden Temple of Urgathoa, the god of Disease and Undeath.
The players are 7th level PCs, as follows:
- AS is playing Payne, an Orc Fighter.
- BH is playing Camellia, a Gnome Cleric of Shelyn.
- KB is playing Waka, a Human Champion of Pharasma.
- MV is playing Sally, a Halfling Bard.
- RS is playing Poppy, a Poppet Witch.
- WD is playing Nox, a Human Swashbuckler.
This was the first game back after a few weeks, since last week’s game fell on election night and everyone was too distracted to play. We left off right after they killed a priestess of Urgathoa, who then transformed into a Child of Urgathoa.
After killing her (again), there was some discussion on what to do next. They were looking for a missing bard, who turned out to be down in this temple being experimented on by an ancient vampire named Ramoska. The vampire made a deal with the PCs, promising to give them the bard in exchange for a Death’s Head Coffer, a magic item that the priestess had. After killing the priestess, the PCs recovered the coffer and had a bit of discussion on what to do with it. There was a lot of talk about trying to trick him, and maybe fighting him, which would *probably* end in a TPK for them. This dude was no joke.
In the end, they decided to give him the coffer, and we moved on. The chapter wrapped up with the PCs concocting a cure for the plague, saving the city. They were rewarded handsomely with lots of gold and gifts and favors, but in doing so the entire city knows who they are and where they live, which could make things complicated for them going forward.
But who cares, they leveled up!
